The SUP school SurfnPaddle PADDLEBOARD CENTRE CASCAIS was the first school in Cascais, launched in 2010 and in 2018 it has added surfing to the school.

Renowned for our friendly staff and for our professionalism with all our paddle boarding and surfing activities, we promote paddle boarding to its maximum for all the benefits the sport can offer and surfing for the sheer delight that it brings, in a completely natural environment. Your enjoyment, well-being and safety are very important to us.We have grown steadily and in summer of 2014 we acquired an excellent space on the beachfront, where we have our shop and school on Praia do Duquesa today, an idea location with great beach, water access, close to public transport and in magical Cascais.

Our Services

At our school we like to teach people of all ages and of a wide ranging experience from beginners to exeperienced. If you are a beginner we can help you understand the basics and get started or have some experience we can help you improve your level.

Our Team

Hi I'm Nick Evans, owner of SurfnPaddle

My passion for the ocean started in dinghy sailing from the age of 8 where I was introduced to the Topper, a small basic one man vessel which you could put on your car, in my case my fathers car and go to the beach.  Immediately I was hooked and went through a series of dinghy's, including, lasers, tornados, fireballs etc until my mid teens where my brother got me into windsurfing.

Here my life changed forever, I was hooked, all my free time was spent on the water mastering this sport, sometimes driving for hours to find the best conditions. Usually when there was no wind I would go surfing, anything to be on the water.

In my thirties after a career in banking I decided to move over to Portugal, Guincho in fact where I knew there would be some of the best conditions for surfing and windsurfing in Europe.  Here I stayed, initially working in banks then later being more involved in tourism.

Today, with a strong background and understanding of the ocean and conditions I have put all my experience into something which I feel very passionate about and believe in, Surfnpaddle.  My knowledge from the UK, where I became a qualified instructor allowed me to both work hands on teaching/instructing but developing a successful tourism business.

I look forward to the opportunity to show you our beautiful Portugal coastline and some of the wonderful places you can visit and enjoy.

Toly - SUP Instructor

Toly is the wisest member of the team and has spent all his life fascinated by the ocean. He was born right next to the sea in Ericiera and from a young boy always played in the waves.

Having recently retired he has devoted his passion for the ocean by swimming in the sea everyday come rain or shine. In the last year he became fascinated with SUP and recently acquired his certification as an IOSUP instructor and now helps out in the school whenever he can.

Also very recently he became a certified boat driver and joins our safety team to provide to best and safest experience possible.

Bernado Mendes - SUP & Surfing Instructor

My name is Bernando ,I am 20 years old and have always been passionate about the ocean especially as I come from a fisherman family.  My big passion for Paddle boarding started when I was only10 years old and I tried it for the first time. I fell in love with this sport immediately. After 6 years I decided to work in this area and started part-time . At 16, I started to compete in  SUP races and even won some medals.  I also surf which is a great water sport too.  I want everyone to see that they are capable of doing SUP and to enjoy it as much as I love it.

Thieres Frias - SUP Instructor

Originally from Salvador Bahia Brazil, Thieres lives in Cascais and specializes in SUP and surf. He’ll teach you how to paddle and for sure you’ll get on board & give you some great tips! Working with all the activities he’ll be running from one place to the other for SUP classes, tours or coaching classes.

Luisa Flores - SUP, SUP Yoga Instructor

Luisa Flores, ASSUP certified for SUP Yoga who joined SurfnPaddle in 2019. Therapeutica with vast experience & the founder of the women's circle of the sea.

Brazilian, resident in Cascais for 2 years with a great passion for surfing & yoga. Graduated in the area of Psychopedagogy using the Padavan methodology of Neurofunctional Reorganisation & Natural therapies.

Ines - Surf Instructor

I’m Inês Silva, I’m 21 years old and I’ve been surfing since I was 7.   I blame my father for liking surfing so much.
Surfing is magical, it frees the spirit and relieves the stress.
It’s indescribable.. if you really want to know what I’m talking about, start this adventure and jump to the surfboard!
You won’t regret and I hope you’ll stay long enough so that I can share with you all I know!”

João - Surfing Instructor

Born and raised in Cascais, graduated in Hotel & Tourism Management by ESTTM in Peniche, attended the Erasmus Program in Almería (Andalusia - Spain), where soon understood that was on the right path.
Since a young age João has loved outdoor activities, especially related to the ocean, such as, surfing, bodyboarding, skimming, kayaking, windsurfing, bodysurfing and SUP and so his outdoor instructor skills developed naturally.  He knows his local area and specific regions throughout Portugal like the palms of his hands and loves to show Portugal to the world - "the welcoming people, our hospitality touch, the climate, our non-material and material heritage - the culture - are Portugal's greatest assets. These qualities are what makes our Portugal brand expand even more" says João.
Nearly 20 years of experience as a waterman and 10 years of experience in tourism business, made him develop with Nick, something new, exciting and fun !
